The 7th graders have recently been working on learning the components of argumentative writing. Mrs. Atwood's class also held a class debate and the teams had to defend their position on a topic. Great job 7th grade!

The Holly Pond K-8 2024 beauty pageant will be Saturday, February 24th. The pageant will be held at Holly Pond and the form attached below has been sent home. If you need an additional form, they are in the elementary or middle school offices.
Now that we're back from break, 8th grade students are working on their Hexagonal Thinking Project - students have to pair terms, characters, and quotes together from our reading of The Diary of Anne Frank. Students are forming connections with these terms and then writing to defend why those terms are so significant to our story. Lots of critical thinking at play here!

The Holly Pond High School blood drive will be Tuesday, January 16 from 8 am to 1:30 pm. The bus parked behind the High School library.
Thank you to Mrs. Allbright for wokring with our fourth grade studnts this week on their Blackout Poetry lesson. Students created their own poems using a page from the book, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss. They circled the words they wanted to use for their poem and marked out the words they chose not to use. Hence the name, blackout poetry. Next time, Mrs. Allbright will help students use Scratch on their computer and Makey Makey kits to record themselves and program the code, so they can play their poem for the class.

Congratulations to Mrs. Payton Sandlin on the recent accomplishment of receiving her National Board Certification. Mrs. Sandlin teaches Career Prep and Computer Science here at Holly Pond. We are so proud of her dedication and hard work to become a NBCT (National Board Certified Teacher).

Holly Pond was well represented at the Cullman Farm City Banquet tonight! Cora won 1st place for her division and Marlee received the second place award for her division! We are so proud of these two girls and how well they represented our school. Great job!
The Jr. Civitans are selling 1-pound Fruitcakes for $5.50. These make excellent Christmas gifts and are an easy impromptu take-along to a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner!
