What do you enjoy most about working in a K-8 School? My most favorite thing about HP K-8 is the people. I love having the opportunity to help students learn and grow into confident young people.

How many years have you worked at Holly Pond? -28 years and 9 months as a classroom teacher and 2 years prior to that as a library aide.

Favorite Quote- John 3:16. I am so humbled that God sent his son to die just for me.
Interesting Fact- I am the first person in my family on both sides to ever attend college.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?- Hawaii
What do you enjoy most about working in an elementary school? I honestly love everything about working in an elementary school. I feel like this is where God felt I could best serve him and others. I have worked with so many amazing teachers, principals, and staff members during my tenure here. Most importantly, my family has been taught by these amazing coworkers and all have helped mold each of us into who we are today. I pray that each student that I teach/taught has at least learned one thing that will help them be a better person in life. I am blessed to be a BRONCO!

Congratulations to 8th grader Brayden Bell, the winner of the 1st Book Blast Treasure Chest stuffed with cash & treats! Congratulations to Mrs. Barksdale's kindergarten class for having the most students sign up on Tuesday! Classes with 60% participation win a $100 in classroom resources. Classes with 100% participation earn $200 in classroom resources. What an easy way to help our students earn free books and our teachers earn classroom supplies!

Middle School Girls Volleyball tryouts will for next school year will be May 1st -4th. The tryouts will be from 3:15 pm-5:30 pm each day. Go Broncos!

Parents/Guardians,
Tryout information was sent home today with 6th and 7th grade girls who signed up for middle school basketball. These tryouts will be for the 2023-2024 basketball season. If your child was absent and did not get the information the sign up sheet will be in the office along with the information and details. We will send out information soon for boys' basketball team tryouts. Go Broncos!


Following today's National Weather Service briefing, Dr. Barnette has decided to have a remote learning day on Friday, March 3, 2023. Cullman County will be under a rare high wind warning beginning tomorrow. We are expecting sustained winds 30-40 MPH with gusts 50-60 MPH, well above safe operating conditions for school buses. The NWS says to expect - and be prepared - for downed trees and power outages. Students will be provided assignments to complete tomorrow.


Due to the risk of severe weather, Cullman County Schools will be remote again tomorrow. (Thursday 2/16/23). There is a strong possibility for tornadoes and I believe that parents should be able to make the decision to carry their children to a storm shelter as needed. If storms are not in our area students should use this time to catch up on any school work or spend time practicing their reading. Thank you and please stay safe. - Shane Barnette

Interesting Fact- Although I have lived in Alabama for 20+ years, I grew up in West Chester, Pennsylvania. And while I sometimes miss the snow of a Pennsylvania winter, I love the people and beaches of Alabama.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?- I would love to travel to Santorini Greece. The cool, blue ocean, white, hillside houses, and tasty food seem interesting to me! And of course, I am always ready to travel to see friends and family that live a little bit closer than that.
What do you enjoy most about working in a K-8 school? My students are absolutely the best part of my job. Watching them grasp new ideas and grow each year is something I treasure. Plus, their sense of humor keeps me laughing - and there is nothing better than that!

We appreciate you explaining the opportunities CATA offers that can prepare our students to become skilled, productive, and marketable employees in the future.
